Do I need any experience?
None. Most of our members walked in having never grappled. Every class scales to your level and a coach will look after you on your first day.
Is the first class really free?
Yes. No catch, no contract, no sales pitch afterward. Come train and see if it's for you.
What should I wear and bring?
Shorts without zippers or pockets, a rash guard or dry-fit shirt, and water. We train no-gi, so there's no uniform to buy.
What does "no-gi" mean?
Traditional jiu jitsu is trained in a kimono (the "gi"). We train in shorts and rash guards instead. It's faster, it's closer to how grappling works without clothing to grab, and there's nothing to purchase before you start.
How much does it cost?
Adult memberships are $94.99 every two weeks and kids are $79.99, with unlimited training. No long-term contract — 30 days' notice to cancel.
Can I train at other 10th Planet locations?
Yes. Your membership includes access to all four 10th Planet academies in Orange County.
I'm out of shape. Should I get fit first?
No — you'd be waiting forever. You get in shape by training. Classes scale to your fitness and you go at your own pace.
Am I too old to start?
We have members who started in their forties and fifties. Jiu jitsu is built on leverage and technique, not athleticism, which is exactly why it suits people who aren't twenty-two anymore.
Is it safe for beginners?
Yes. Beginners drill technique with controlled partners while coaches watch. You're not sparring on day one.
What age can kids start?
Age 5. We run two age groups — Little Kids (5–8) and Kids/Teens (8–13). From 14, teens train in the adult classes.
Do you have contracts?
No long-term contracts. Membership runs every two weeks and you can cancel anytime with 30 days' notice.
Do you offer early morning classes?
Yes — 6 AM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Where are you and where do I park?
601 S Euclid St in Fullerton, with parking on site. We're minutes from the 5, 57, and 91.
Do I have to compete?
No. Most members never enter a tournament. If you want to, we have a competition team ready for you.
